PROGRAMS FOR THE PERSECUTED

Assist News Service reports that the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews is attempting to raise $100,000 to aid targeted minorities, including Egypt’s Coptic Christians. According to a media release, the “Bless the Persecuted” campaign will provide financial and medical aid, psychological counselling, and programs for families and children who have been victims of terror and other forms of religious persecution.

SCOTTISH CHAPLAIN FOR THE QUEEN

A Church of Scotland minister from Aberdeen has been appointed as one of Queen Elisabeth’s chaplains. Reverend George Cowie has been officially appointed as one of the Queen’s personal chaplains and has joined her Majesty’s Household as a Chaplain-in-Ordinary.

ANIMATED STORY OF FIRST CHRISTMAS

The trailer for the highly anticipated animated film The Star, which tells the Nativity story from a different perspective, has been released and includes endorsements from its all-star cast, including Tyler Perry and Mariah Carey. According to The Christian Post, the Affirm Films picture, to be released in November, tells the story of the first Christmas through the perspective of the animals that travelled with Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem and witnessed Jesus' birth. The film includes voiceovers from A-list celebrities such as Kelly Clarkson, Tracy Morgan and Oprah Winfrey.
